Over the Humber

The last day of April saw us crossing the Humber Bridge and heading into what I consider to be really Northern England and an area I have probably only ever been to once.

Our next port of call was to be Scarborough. Or too be more accurate, West Ayton, a short bus ride away.

We didn't enjoy our stop there too much, the weather was miserable and when we caught the bus into Scarborough had to wait at the stop with some, could do with a bit more care in the community men. The youngest of whom had clearly just wet himself.

We had a good walk around the town and decided it wasn't a place we felt needed to go back to. Maybe it was the weather but we were just disappointed. On the plus side I did buy another dressed crab to replace the one Mike had lost the day before in Skegness. Don't ask!!

An open top bus in this weather?

I love Lifeboats!

Ont the way back to the site, from the village bus stop, a small terrier  was running around in the lane, she was in serious danger of being run over. We spoke to a lady who was walking her dog and obviously local. She didn't recognise the young dog but I managed to grab it and although there was no address, there was a mobile number, so I rang, signal was poor but just about managed to convey where we were before we got cut off. The lady had just decided it would be best if she took the stray back to her house and try to phone again. Then we heard heavy footsteps running towards us and huffing and puffing. At the gate next to us appeared a builder who was working on the farmhouse at the bottom of the field next to us. He was pleased to get his dog back, who had sneaked out through a fence somewhere. So that was my good deed for the day and in truth, probably the best bit of the day.

Thankfully we were moving on the next day to Whitby, which I was really looking forward to.
